Maybe we should get ideas going for this? I dont think we need to submit a budget yet ( office said we will have time after camp to develop the project if it's chosen??)

Do we have to value the cost of this project...how many money we need? Or what is it?

we must only be prepared to answer questions at the presentation about the cost of our project.just keep cost in mind when proposing a project as it can't be expensive to start up and the project must enable other YEP's to be able to go back and help with the project in the future... Smile

about your project idea... Maybe you should think a bit
easier Wink The fieldtrip is another good idea, in your position I'd more
focus on this.

We got a big package of clothes and equipment but also had to buy some
on our own. Actually all the clothes you were as a top lalyer we got
from Quechua and additionly some thermal underwear, gloves, beanies, a
sleeping bag, a sleeping mat, a bagpack, a sports duffle bag... The rest
be bought on our own, means more thermal underwear, shoes and all the
little equipment stuff like a spoon, a cup, bottle, thermos, handwarmers
and and and Wink
When we arrived in Canada we got our sleds, skis and some other shoes.

Unfortunately we didn't get in contact with local guides so I can't tell
you anything about it. But I guess they all understand English because
they go on trips with sports hunters from all over the world.

http://www.infohub.com/TRAVEL/SIT/sit_pages/nunavut.html - here I found some offers of Nunavut guided tours for tourists.

I have just contacted Adventure Canada and asked for approximate price of our trip (included basic info on what and how we would like to arrange it) with a qualified guide for about 20 people.

thanx Zula!
I also mailed nunavut parks + some "outfitters" in igloolik about guide / park fees - hope to hear from them too!
equipment (if we look @ saskia's mail) will be sponsored by Pangaea sponsors/office. We need to have hike utensils (but maybe we can use what is on Pangaea boat?

Locals will allready have all their camping stuff because thats what they do in summer. But we can always ask the local "hunters & trappers / outfitters" to sponsor .

food????

Admin

ask for sponsor - http://www.northernstores.ca/sponsorships_donations_page.asp

links to store managers for prices of equipement http://www.arcticco-op.com/acl-baffin-region-igloolik.htm

scroll down to "food" - some prices there
http://mailhub.edu.nu.ca/qikiqtani/orientation/PondInlet.html

or what about just taking "dehydrated food packets" (just use your local price ??) lots of water available , then just need some basic cooking utensils / hiking gas stoves?

@ rici - thanks for getting the poster print quotes!

maybe we can save some $$ by asking the school to have a "art" project - kids making posters ( we give all info before ) & then its for free??

this will make them excited about our visit?

We can also submit an article to the local newspaper - also free "advertising"?

That´s a great idea, but then we have to know in which community we will go. when our project will be chosen it´s good advertising for free...perhaps it´s bit little, stuff like flyer to hand out is perhaps needed anyway?!

Feedback I got yesterday from two places:

1) Adventure Canada:
Hello Zuzanna,
Our company only does cruises around Nunavut that last from 15 to 17 days in
length so I don't think we would be able to help you. Have you been in
touch with Nunavut Tourism, they may be able to direct you to someone who
could accommodate your group.
Best of luck,
Loretta

Hi Zula,

I will try to respond to your request by next week sometime.

Best,

Janelle

I'm very positive about sponsorship and in general financial support for our project... so maybe we should make a table with three rows: equipment, approximate cost, possible economies?

You will show movies from MH, right? I think these movies we get for free and I think the schools have the equipment to watch movies!

* BUDJET PLANNING:

I asked my uncle how much it cost to print posters and flyers to make promotion of our project.
Some data:
+ flyers (only print): 1000pces -> about 90$ (normal flyer, no extras)
+ posters (only print): 100pces -> about 145$ (Din A1)
If a specialist have to make the draw of the poster or flyer: + 300-600$
But it all depends on the standard, high or low quality, size,...

You said we need an example of a flyer, my uncle said if one of us or a friend can make a draw, he can check it and say what is better to change...He can do the finishing.
